Job Description
Assists in the planning, organizing, coordinating and promoting aquatic recreation programs for adults and/or youth. Performs general management, administration and supervision of the Wet Zone Waterpark operation. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervises classes, workshops and activities for recreation aquatic events. Assists in preparing for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers and related communications regarding recreation and aquatic programs; promotes interest and provides information regarding programs to the general public. Assists with the coordinating, scheduling, and maintaining related records and statistics for programs and personnel. Coordinates programs, registers participants and collect's fees.
May serve as manager on duty in the absence of the Athletic/Aquatic Supervisor. Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, correspondence or during meetings. Responsible for the supervision of work units. May operate register in concession stand or kiosk as needed, collects money from guests and give change as needed. Assists with customer needs, cash register, stocking and cleaning. Opens and closes facility as needed. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned. Responsible for regular attendance and arriving to work on time.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequires a High School Diploma or GED. Background experience or bachelors degree preferred. Background in aquatics or recreation is desirable.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to use a personal computer, including WORD and EXCEL software; calculator, copy and fax machines, mobile or portable radio, and various sports equipment used in aquatic programs. Ability to calculate pool chemistry and daily cash reports. Ability to schedule, multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to deal effectively with several problems at one time; deal appropriately with several individuals in solving problems; analyze various types of data and reach conclusions. Ability to supervise and assist with training and monitoring employees (adults, and college/high school students). In the absence of the Athletic/Aquatic Supervisor, will supervise aquatic staff, including part-time seasonal and contract employees. Ability to manage recreation and waterpark personnel and daily functions. Ability to deal with individuals with limited work history; handle public concerns regarding facility. |
Other RequirementsWill work a varying schedule, including weekends and holidays as designated by the Athletic/Aquatic Supervisor.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred. Valid Texas driver's license. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her supervisor within two working days of receipt. Home About DONATE |
Working ConditionsEnvironmental factors consist of working outside in the heat, sun, high humidity and wind. Exposure to HTH, chlorine, muriatic acid, pool chemicals, and slippery surfaces. Basic noise factors consist of crowds and whistles. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Benefits and OpportunitiesPay- $14.12/ hour, will work a minimum of 40 hours per week, but will usually exceed the 40 hours.
Room and Board- There is no room and board available through this organization for interns or employees. Incentives- During your employment with the city you have access to work out at the Rowlett Recreation Center for free. You also have the ability to expand your recreation knowledge and network by working closely with full time staff. |
