During spring break, I was lucky enough to get my Lifeguard Instructor Certification, which allows me to certify lifeguards with a deep or shallow emphasis as well as teach first aid and CPR. It was a long and hard process to achieve this certification, but using it this summer, I felt more confident in what I was doing, and was better able to help the lifeguards with their training and confidence level in me as a supervisor.
The classes I co-taught and taught alone were all 3-4 days in length and several hours on end. It was an exhausting process but in the end it was incredibly satisfying to see my students grasp a skill and pass it.
